Gift a Gender-Affirming Stocking

A gender-affirming stocking is holiday stocking with a trans* person's new, chosen name on it.

People are often given stockings with their birth name on it when they're quite young. Therefore, if a trans person comes out and chooses a new, gender-affirming name, their stocking no longer reflects their true identity.

So through this program, My Group Project makes and mails a brand new stocking with the person's correct, chosen name on it as a way to affirm the identity they've declared.

Because we believe that affirming one's identity is one of the best gifts we can give.

The cost of making and mailing one gender-affirming stocking is about $10.

Last year we made 12. This year, our goal is 50!

*Trans is being used here as an umbrella term. This is for all folks who are not cisgender, whether you identify as trans, genderqueer, non-binary, agender, or anywhere in-between.
